Biography
Even as a young boy, Keith Gehle knew he wanted to be a professional musician. Today he enjoys a busy career as a performer, recording artist, composer/arranger, and teacher. Keith began his performing career during his college years with a simple philosophy: advance the art of guitar performance through diverse music appealing to a wide audience. His many musical experiences (including rock, classical, folk and New Age styles) have produced an artist with a perspective and style that is unique in the community of solo/classical guitar. His numerous performances have delighted audiences at universities, music festivals and community concerts throughout the Southeast. Keith was recognized for his outstanding musicianship by the Georgia Council for the Arts by serving on their prestigious Touring Roster for many years before it disbanded. His recordings include Keith Gehle, Guitarist, Winter Song, Nocturne, Songs of December and his latest release, Space and Time.
Regarding Keith’s newest recording Journeyscapes Radio wrote: “...beautiful, velvety tone, which is further enhanced by the warmly light soundscapes of the arrangements...Space and Time is like a welcome breath of fresh air.” Mainlypiano.com wrote: “one of the best guitar albums I’ve heard this year! Very highly recommended.”
Keith has made a number of television and radio appearances in support of his work and has had performances aired on Public Radio stations around the Southeast. Some of his original compositions and arrangements for solo guitar have been published by Hal Leonard and Mel Bay Publications. In June 2017, THREE of Keith’s original compositions (Waiting for the Sun, Cooper’s Creek and Desert Song) were be published by Mel Bay as part of a music book entitled Composers of the Americas.
A classically trained musician, Keith earned his Bachelor of Music degree in guitar performance from The University of Georgia under the guidance of acclaimed guitar teacher John Sutherland a student of the great Spanish guitarist Andres Segovia. In addition to his collegiate studies, Keith was selected to participate in the master class of Grammy nominated guitarist Christopher Parkening at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.
